Transient Embolic Aorto-Arteritis
نویسنده
چکیده
The clinical and postmortem data from a 14-year-old girl who had transient embolic aortoarteritis are presented. This disease was first described in 1974 by Peiris and Wickremaslnghe in Hindu patients and is characterized by repetitive embolic occlusion of infraand extracranial vessels of the brain, originating from focal thrombotlc lesions in the aorta and its primary branches. The main histopathological lesion is located in the elastic tissue of the media in these arteries with alterations that vary from mild arteritis of the vasa vasorum to degeneration and destruction of the media which predisposes to aneurysm formation. This new entity apparently affects only adolescents and young adults and has no relation to atherosclerosis or other non-specific arteritides previously described. To our knowledge, this is the firs* such patient reported in America. Stroke, Vol 12, No 6, 1981

Renal amyloidosis and non-specific aorto-arteritis--a hitherto undescribed association.
Two patients presented with the nephrotic syndrome complicating non-specific aorto-arteritis (Takayasu's arteritis). Histologically both had renal amyloidosis. On investigation there was no evidence of chronic infection or any immuno-inflammatory disease known to be associated with amyloidosis. These cases raise the possibility of a significant association between aorto-arteritis of the Takayas...
متن کاملAorto-carotid bypass in patients with Takayasu arteritis
PURPOSE Takayasu arteritis is an indication for bypass surgery when this condition results in severe cerebrovascular ischemia due to occlusion of the carotid arteries. We reviewed the patients with Takayasu arteritis who received aorto-carotid bypass due to cerebrovascular ischemia. METHODS A retrospective review was performed on 19 patients with Takayasu arteritis who underwent aorto-carotid...
متن کاملEndovascular Rescue of a Narrowed Aorto-Aortic Bypass Graft in a Patient with Takayasu’s Arteritis
We report a case of successful endovascular treatment of a pseudoaneurysm and the obstruction of an aorto-aortic bypass graft, which had been performed to treat Takayasu's arteritis fifteen years prior, at the thoracic aorta. Along with the immediate relief of proximal hypertension that had caused severe heart failure, the successful exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm and the patency of the stem g...
متن کاملCerebral Embolic Activity in a Patient during Acute Crisis of Takayasu's Arteritis
Takayasu's arteritis is a disease that affects large vessels and may cause neurological symptoms either by stenoses/occlusions or embolisms from vessels with an inflammatory process. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound can provide useful information for diagnosis and monitoring during the active phase of the disease. Cerebral embolic signals can be detected by TCD and have been considered a r...

Visceral artery aneurysms are rarely reported. They can occur in the context of a variety of underlying diseases. These aneurysms may coexist with non-visceral arterial aneurysms. Here we describe an 80-year-old man with concomitant superior mesenteric, celiac, renal, and aorto-bi-iliac aneurysms. The patient was a hypertensive and hyperlipidemic old man with history of transient ischemic attack...
